About Us Growing up as a military brat does have its advantages. One of those was being exposed to the world at an early age. After I grew up and left home for college, I met and married my husband. He later joined the military, and my list of moves continued to grow. I have now lived in 9 states, 1 other country, and have visited 75% of the US and 11 countries on 2 continents. Every place I have lived has had its own beauty. I have enjoyed every place I have lived. It wasn’t until we moved to Alaska, that I thought I could settle down somewhere for a long period of time (anything over 3 years). I love Alaska. I have lived in the interior since 2005, and I’m not planning on going anywhere anytime soon. My husband and I always dreamed of coming to Alaska, so we had a lot of expectations when we moved up here. My husband was born and raised in Montana, as were my parents…so Montana has always been considered home. We came here expecting to compare Alaska with Montana…and it didn’t work. It was like comparing apples to oranges. Montana is full of old backwoods logging roads and trails galore. You want to travel through a mountain range, chances are there is a road or old logging road for you to follow. Not so in Alaska. There are only 3 major highway systems, and that is it. No backwoods roads to take you through the mountains and hills. If you want to go camping and don’t know where to go, you end up camping with everyone else along side the road. So this site was created for you. If you want to come to Alaska and enjoy its wild untamed beauty…without all of the other tourists…I will share with you the information that I have gathered from the great people of Alaska. The people who know where to go and what to do, and not do! If you have any questions, or would like to leave a comment feel free to do so on our Contact Us page, or visit us on our daily blog. |
